This is a fantastic photo–the color and reflections are magnificent. The park was setup in 1964 and was the 10th national park in New Zealand. The park is located in the SW of the South Island at the southern end of the Southern Alps.

13. Mount Cook – South Island, New Zealand

Mount Cook is the highest point in New Zealand rising to 12,316 ft (3,754 meters). This mountain is on the South Island in the Southern Alps mountain range which passes from the North of the island to the Southern end. Mt. Cook resides within the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park which was established in 1953.

The lighthouse was built in 1913 but is now automated and run from a control room in Wellington.
